As luxury floral artists, we love to stretch our creative muscles by partnering with other vendors to create one-of-a-kind designs that challenge traditional wedding conventions. This photoshoot at the Barn on Walnut Hill is a perfect example. We were inspired by a non-traditional ceremony seating arrangement and explored how florals could become an integral part of the guest experience—not just décor. By reimagining the flow and perspective of the space, we designed florals that guided movement, framed moments of connection, and created a sense of immersion from every angle.

The vision for this photoshoot began with ways we could create a unique and intimate ceremony space. The Barn on Walnut Hill has the perfect ceremony grove shaded by poplar and quaking aspen trees, providing an ideal backdrop for our mock ceremony setup. Instead of setting up folding chairs, we opted for sleek white pedestals, which we wrapped in blooms. This shoot took place in early June, so we focused on neutral spring blooms with blush, lavender, light blue, and pale yellow accents. We wanted to create a design that could easily translate into any season, building the base from seasonal grass and foliage.
As always, we build our designs without using any harmful floral foam. Instead, we used a 9 by 12 eco dish by Oasis Floral Products, with net-like “pillows” from Syndicate Sales, and a few extra-large vintage flower frogs from my personal collection! Styled shoots are great opportunities to practice using foam-free mechanics so you can feel even more confident on real wedding days!

For the reception space, we wanted to achieve a moody and rustic, yet elevated design. We wanted to shed a new light on what was possible with barn wedding receptions! Inside the Barn on Walnut Hill, the wood is unfinished, and light is scarce. Instead of letting this intimidate us, we used it to enhance the moodiness of the design. To offset the dimness, we lit candlesticks, allowing them to shine light on the seasonal grasses, allium, and orlaya we used to create a lush and modern tablescape.
We coordinated the color of the linens with the decor in the main house. We wanted to embrace the boldness of the black and white striped wallpaper, opting for simple linens and glossy black chairs. The end result was a barn wedding reception that still dripped with elegance and style.

We had so much fun creating a unique ceremony and reception design at the Barn on Walnut Hill. We always relish an experience that invites us to think outside the box and create something new!
