When we say designing luxury florals for weddings is an absolute dream job, we’re not exaggerating. It is a privilege to work alongside couples to create exquisite, statement-making pieces that leave your guests’ jaws on the floor. Aggy and Andrew found us through their wedding planner after their first florist canceled, and we think it was fate. Working alongside Aggy, her parents, and Andrew was so much fun! Their church wedding ceremony was timeless and classic. Their tented wedding reception at the Asticou Inn was bursting with color.
Aggy had a strong vision for her wedding flowers. She wanted to keep the florals at the ceremony neutral and textured so the colorful arrangements at the reception would pop. We love collaborating with our couples and always listen closely to their vision. And we’re always up for the challenge of incorporating stems that you wouldn’t usually find together. So, while we wouldn’t usually put baby’s breath (gypsophila) and lily of the valley together, Aggy had a strong vision for these two blooms. And when we put it all together, we had to admit she was on to something!
Since lily of the valley is a spring bloom, we replaced it with bouvardia (a late summer bloom) for that same delicate vibe. We combined it with a wild pearl gyp and a botanic lisianthus to create that textured look that Aggy was looking for. Aggy and her bridesmaids each carried a bouquet of these blooms, carrying the classic white into each of their outfits. No matter what season your wedding is in, we can find the perfect blooms to elevate your vision.
The church where Aggy and Andrew were married was beautiful. The classic architecture and afternoon light were simply dreamy. The arch at the front of the church provided a unique challenge, however. We built a nine-foot frame with a chapel peak to frame the doorway, but not block the narrow aisle. Here, the bride’s flower choices really got to shine! We then created little clouds of bouvardia and wild pearl gypsophila at the end of each aisle to pull it all together. The most exciting part was getting to help Aggy bring her dream to life. Working with your florist should be collaborative, where your creativity inspires ours.
After the ceremony, Aggy and Andrew’s guests arrived at the Asticou Inn, a beautiful, historic property in Bar Harbor, Maine. Aggy had wanted the colorful blooms to make a statement, and we ensured that they did! The clear-top tent allowed the light to fall perfectly on the hanging vines, pink and blush centerpieces, and, of course, the showstopping entryway.
In preparation for Aggy and Andrew’s Asticou Inn reception, we ordered between 250 and 300 dahlias, and each one was more beautiful than the last. They truly got their moment to shine as guests arrived on the property and entered the reception beneath a draping arch of thick greenery and bold, colorful flowers. Each table was lined with blue vases filled with asymmetrical bouquets. The night ended with fireworks over the water.
“Andrew and I wanted to send a huge thank you for making our floral dreams come true. It was the most magical celebration – and your team’s artistic design of beautiful florals truly made it a dream. It was so exciting to see it all come together. Both the church and the tent floral arches were more beautiful than I ever could have imagined – and your team perfectly pulled off creating a different feel in both settings – but somehow it also felt like it all meant to come together. […] You were also a joy to work with – listening to our ideas wholeheartedly and then bringing your style into the process.”
Here at Abby Garden, we pride ourselves on creating jaw-dropping floral installations that are completely foam-free. Aggy and Andrew’s Asticou Inn wedding was no exception. From the peaked arch in the church entryway to the doorways of the reception tent, we used sustainable, environmentally friendly tools. We built the arch with pipe and drape pieces and metal conduit wire that we bent into the peak shape. We then zip-tied the wire to the bases, covered them in chicken wire, and began flowering. No matter how extravagant your design is, we are committed to staying foam-free. Are you ready to see your floral vision come to life for your wedding or event?
