If there is anything we love, it is bringing the beauty of nature inside. As luxury florists and event designers, we were overjoyed to work alongside Jessica Hennessy on this beautiful wedding at The State Room in Boston. When Danielle and Michael explained their vision for their flowers, they told us they wanted to bring a garden inside while keeping their reception decor modern and refined. And this vision perfectly fit their venue!
Perched atop a skyscraper in downtown Boston, The State Room is a truly gorgeous setting for a wedding reception. With nearly 360-degree views of the city, it creates an effortlessly elegant feeling for any event. However, the venue had a very narrow allotment of time for us to set up, so we brought a team of 18 with us to construct the four installations and set the tables in just under five hours! One of the benefits of working with an experienced florist is our ability to navigate your venue’s specific constraints, creating something beautiful with ease.
To complement the contemporary, clean aesthetics of The State Room, we focused on lush greens and neutral blooms to create a timeless, luxurious design. We built two 12-foot pillars with birch branches and our pipe and drape kit. These flanked the couple’s table and the dance floor. The long tables were covered with black linens and lined with individual centerpieces set in glass and white porcelain vases. The dark linens contrasted with the white flowers and vibrant greenery, making the centerpieces pop and draw the eye.
We also wanted to create a “wow” moment for Danielle and Michael as soon as they entered the reception. At first, we considered a suspended arrangement over the dancefloor, but decided to focus on the 30-foot-long staircase instead. The couple and their guests entered the reception through this staircase, which we covered in greenery and blocks of abundant foliage and lush blooms. We then draped loose vines with wisteria around the bistro lights, creating a romantic canopy over the reception. The black and white color scheme was classy, elevated, and timeless. We had so much fun getting creative with the designs while staying true to the couple’s vision for minimal reception decor.
It was a fun and invigorating experience to seamlessly blend garden-style florals with the modern atmosphere of The State Room in Boston. Each installation we created was completely foam-free, relying on angel vine wrapped in chicken wire to support the designs. We love nothing more than creating memorable events while supporting sustainability and moving towards a cleaner future! IF you have a vision for your wedding or event, we would love to hear it.
